It's Jameis Winston SZN In New York (For Now)
In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by New Era, the Jameis Winston era for the New York Giants, late-round best ball QBs, Tyler Warren profile.
In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by New Era:
The NFL Draft is the talk of the town currently, and with good reason. No event has a bigger impact on the NFL landscape. Just look at the Commanders, who have gone from a perennial doormat in the NFC East to a Super Bowl sleeper after drafting Jayden Daniels. And winning Matthewās eternal gratitude.
A Different Kind Of Game Changer
However, not every team can land a superstar quarterback. Sometimes, you have to settle for whatever you can get in free agency. The Giants might be headed toward that fate. Cam Ward has become a pretty substantial favorite to land with the Titans at No. 1, while rumors are circulating that the Browns will select Shedeur Sanders at No. 2. That leaves the Giants SOL from a quarterback perspective.
Enter Winston. He signed a two-year, $8M deal with the Giants on Friday, which puts him in line to be the teamās starting quarterback in the fall. The team might still look to target a future quarterback later in the draftāsomeone like Jaxson Dart or Tyler Shoughābut those players are much less likely to start right out of the gates.
What does that mean for the Giantsā offense? The big winner is Malik Nabers. Letās just say that optimism surrounding Nabers has been cranked up to 11 following this signing:

This optimism is warranted. Winston is known for pushing the ball downfield aggressively, and heās propelled lesser receivers to fantasy superstardom. He was able to make Jerry Jeudy a thing last year with the Browns; Nabers could legitimately enter WR1 overall territory with 17 games from Winston this season. Nabers is currently listed as the WR8 in our consensus rankings, and at a minimum, the Winston signing pushes him into the same tier as WRs like Brian Thomas Jr., Nico Collins, and Amon-Ra St. Brown.
The only real concern with Nabers is that the Giants could add Travis Hunter with the third pick in the draft. Weāre still not 100% sure how Hunter is going to be utilized in the NFL. He could be a full-time corner and a part-time receiver, but the inverse is also possible. If the Giants draft Hunter and view him as more of a receiver, could he potentially eat into Nabersā workload? Itās possible, but even in that scenario, the Giants still have minimal other competition for those players. Both players can eat with Winston at quarterback, who averaged 9.2 air yards per attempt last season.
Ultimately, Iām grabbing as much exposure to Nabers as humanly possible, and Iām drafting plenty of shares of Hunter as well. Letās eat some Ws.
